Carolyn Ann “Sis” Wood, 70, of Alton, Illinois and formerly of Madison, Illinois and Climax Springs, Missouri passed away at 3:15 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019 at her home.

She was born April 4, 1949 in Granite City, a daughter of the late Harvey Thomas and Ruth Ann (Cook) Hill.

Carolyn married Thomas R. Wood Sr. in Madison, Illinois and he passed away on November 11, 2009.

She had worked as an office manager and technician with Family Eye Care in Camdenton, Missouri.

She loved spending time with her family and cherished her grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Wood of Alton, Illinois; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas R. Wood Jr. and Tracy of Cedar Hill, Missouri; an adopted daughter, Jamie Smith of Godfrey; five grandchildren, Mason Mudd, Tommy Wood, Carter Smith, Wyatt Smith and Dakota Smith; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathy Phillips and Frank of Climax Springs, Missouri; a brother and sister-in-law, Harvey Thomas Hill Jr. and Janice of Arnold, Missouri; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and many friends.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Smith.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Charles West officiating.

Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.

Memorials may be made to the Treehouse Wildlife Center, 23956 Green Acres Road, Dow, IL 62022 and may be accepted at the funeral home.
