Lonnie E. Neal, formerly of East Wenatchee, WA, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2019, at his home in La Conner, WA. Lonnie was born on December 30, 1922, to Percy and Bonnie Neal in Hartline, WA.

The family moved to East Wenatchee, WA, where he became a “bridge walker”, graduating from Wenatchee High School. He enlisted in the service on December 7, 1941, and after training as a radio operator, was stationed in China with the Army Air Force Flying Tigers. He married Virginia E. Ecker, June 8, 1947, and they made their home in East Wenatchee, where they raised their three children.

Lonnie worked for years in radio and TV repair. He was also a HAM radio operator for 40 years, and a Douglas County Reserve Deputy for 15 years, where he worked security for many Apple Blossom Festivals.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Bernice Kinnaman and Thelma Lease; his wife; and his daughter, Nancy Jo Gifford. He is survived by his brother, Leon Neal of Wenatchee, WA; his daughter, Joy Neal of Mount Vernon, WA; grandson, Timothy (Bobbie); great-grandsons: Aiden and Talos of Mount Vernon, WA; his son, John Neal (Arlene) of East Wenatchee, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., at Chapel of the Valley, 302 9th St., Wenatchee, WA. There will be a reception following the service. Dad was an avid reader, so in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the La Conner Library Foundation, P. O. Box 1025, La Conner, WA, 98257 for their new building. Arrangements made by Chapel of the Valley, Wenatchee, WA.
