Vernon “Ray” Hynes, Jr, age 63, passed away Friday morning April 5, 2019 at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ray was born September 7, 1955 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late Vernon Ray Hynes, Sr. and Wanda (Kent) Reese. Ray was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving right after the Vietnam War. After his military service, he worked as a painting contractor in construction. His favorite hobby, for which he’s most well known as “Mojo”, was his long racing career which expanded over 2 decades. In his most recent years, you would find Ray either watching the races on Friday night or spending time with his family, including his grandchildren who had become the highlight of his life.
He is survived by his wife, his mother, his mother-in-law, two sons, two daughters, seven grandchildren, one brother, numerous loving nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Ray Hynes, Sr., father-in-law Joseph Scrivner and brother-in-law Ricky Norton.
