February 5, 1936 - February 2, 2011 Andrew Keen, 74 years of age of Bristol, VA, formerly of Whitewood, VA, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in the Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, TN. Born in Buchanan County, February 5, 1936, he was the son of the late Harvey Keen and Linda Hinkle Keen. He was a retired coal miner, member of the UMWA and member of the Shady Grove Pentecostal Church, Abingdon, VA. Andrew was an avid horseman, he enjoyed riding and racing show horses. He also was a Volunteer for the 4-H Center Trail Riding, Abingdon, VA. Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by infant daughter, Deborah Diana Keen; two sisters, Mazie Hibbitts, Kathleen Smith; four brothers, Walter, Sherman, Robert and Clyde Keen. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, 8 months and 9 days, Fannie Marie Grizzle Keen of Bristol, VA; daughters, Leta Mae Vandyke and husband George of Saltville, VA, Leora Gay Cantrell and husband Larry of Whitewood, VA; sons, Lonnie Zyndell Keen and wife Susan of Bristol, VA, Forrest Henry Keen and wife Tina of Meadowview, VA; brothers, Herman Keen and wife Maria of Loraine, TX, Otis Keen of Patterson, VA. He was also survived by six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. Funeral services for Andrew Keen will be conducted Saturday , February 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Keen Mountain, VA with Rev. George Vandkye, Rev. Michael Justice and Rev. Adam Wise officiating. Burial will follow in the Peaceful Knoll Cemetery on Laural Creek, Whitewood, VA. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 6:00 p.m. Saturday where evening service will be held at 7:00 p.m.. Honorary pallbearers will be: Bobby Arnold, Dennis Arnold, Woodrow Smith, Jeff Keen, Johnny Vandkye and men of the Shady Grove Pentecostal Church.
