Mrs. Mavis Earlene Barnes, age 94 of Gulf Shores passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019. She was a former resident of Frisco City. Mrs. Barnes owned and operated Barnes Grocery Market before retiring. She was a member of Gulf Shores First Baptist Church and former member of Frisco City First Baptist Church.

     Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her parents James Lumon Dyess and Mattie Lee McInnis Dyess and brother-in-law Blanch Brantley

     She is survived by her husband Rev. Clayton Barnes of Gulf Shores AL. They were married on June 16, 1946 and had nearly 73 years of a loving marriage; her daughter Madalyn Barnes (Morgan) Kitchens of Orange Beach, AL; one sister Frances Denise Brantley of Selma, AL; nephew James William (Lynette) Brantley; niece Madalyn Denise (Ken) Howorth; great nephew Heath Brantley and great niece Hillary (Aaron) Strassner   

     Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 2PM to 3PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3PM with the Rev. Rick Long officiating. Interment will be at Union Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home directing. Visit our online registry at www.johnsonfh.org The family is accepting flowers or donations may be made to St. Jude.
