Stephen Elmer West, 60, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 16, 2019, at his home. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.

Stephen was born December 2, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Melvin Elmer West and Erminie Odessa Clawson West. He grew up and attended schools in Holladay, Utah, and graduated from Olympus High School. He served as a missionary in the Louisiana and Mississippi area. Stephen served in the Utah Air National Guard. He graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

On June 25, 1980, he married Debra Kathleen Hanna in Salt Lake City, Utah. To this union were born six children, David, Stephanie, Nathan, Andrew, Alexander, and Daniel. Stephen and Debra made their home north of Seattle, Washington, where Stephen worked as a mechanical engineer for Boeing for 28 years.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Scout leader and as an ordinance worker in the Seattle Temple. He traveled the world including Russia, China, Japan, and Europe. He visited Disney parks in cities all over the world. He enjoyed DIY home improvement projects. He loved ice cream.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Debra West of Idaho Falls, ID; son, David (Xuehui) West of San Francisco, CA; daughter, Stephanie (Cory) McRae of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Nathan (Rebekah) West of Marysville, WA; son, Andrew West of Meridian, ID; son, Alexander (Carissa) West of Arlington WA; son, Daniel West of Monroe, WA; mother, Erminie West of Lovell, WY; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, brothers, John Mark and Timothy West, and his grandson, Henry West.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 24, 2019, at the church at 1165 Azalea Drive, with Bishop Matt Hansen, of the Idaho Falls 28th Ward, officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.

Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Air Force Honor Guard.
