Mrs. Garrett was born on February 23, 1941, in Vicco, KY, to Ora and Lucy (Isom) Johnson. Her parents preceded her in death. Geraldine’s first marriage was to Roy “Buddy” Green on December 24, 1958 in Jeff, KY, he preceded her in death on July 2, 2000. On August 12, 2017, Geraldine married Steve Garrett. He survives and resides in Hartford City.
Geraldine was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Huntington and also attended Old County Church Harvest Center in Hartford City. She was a homemaker and a great cook. She loved her family, kids and grandkids.
Geraldine is survived by her husband, Steve, five sons; Ora (Deborah) Green, Tracy City, TN, James (Brenda Taylor) Green, Van Wert, OH, Roy W. (Karolyn) Green, Warsaw, IN, Jeff (Theresa) Green, Huntington, IN, Arnold (Nikki) Green, Columbia City, IN; two daughters, Lisa (Steve) Riecke, Patricia (Thomas) Garrison, both of Huntington, IN. She is also survived by two step children, Stevie (Holly) Garrett, Krissy (Jason) Hines, both of Dunkirk, IN; two brothers, Danny Johnson, Hazard, KY, Boyd Johnson, Tracy City, TN; two sisters, Carolyn Book, Hartford City, IN, Kathy (Wendell) Kemplen, Portland, IN; 25 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and first husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Johnson, Herman Johnson; one sister, Patsy Guffey; and three great grandchildren, Geraldine Green, Riley Garrison and Ty Green.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at First Freewill Baptist Church of Huntington, 1805 Salamonie Avenue, Huntington, IN.
Additional calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at the church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
A Funeral service will follow the calling hours on Tuesday at the First Freewill Baptist Church of Huntington at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Brunk Conley and Evangelist Orvel Hisel officiating.
Burial will be at Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
