Mr. Larry W. "Snake Doctor" Newton, 71, of Union City passed away 9:16 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Larry Nichols and Brother Eddie Mallonee will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services Friday.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Hutchison, Charles Cavender, Mickey McClure, Earl Witherspoon, Freddie Preuett, Gary Fields, Monty May, Calvin Cary, Charles Conn and Kenny Stowell.

Larry was born October 3, 1947, in Union City, son of the late L.B. "Shorty" and Iva Jewel (Shands) Newton. He was a retired security guard and attended Oak Street Presbyterian Church in Union City. Larry enjoyed talking with friends on his CB radio and fishing. He was a charter member and past president of the Weakley County Rescue Squad.

He is survived by one daughter, Amy Landrith (Michael) of Visalia, California; one son, David Newton of Union City; his companion Linda Hudson of Union City; one sister, Becky Wilson (Brad) of Martin; three grandchildren, Amber Fleischman (Trevor) stationed at Lemoore, California Naval Base; Braden Newton of Union City and Parker Newton of Clarksville; two great grandchildren, Austin Fleischman and Avery Fleischman both of Lemoore, California.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Stevie Lynn Newton.
