Lanny R. Benefield, of Summertown, TN passed away Wednesday at his residence.
He was a 1965 graduate from Summertown High School and was a retired engineer from the Columbia Fire Department after 30 years of service. He was a member of Summertown Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and also served on the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief in Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Iowa, Kentucky, Alabama and all over Tennessee.
Mr. Benefield was preceded in death by his parents, E. C. and Ethel Eulala Pruitt Benefield; son, Michael Wayne Benefield and brother, Larry Benefield. Surviving are his wife, Cinthia Moore Benefield; son, Russell Benefield (Wendy); daughter, Lana Benefield Smith (David); granddaughters: Elizabeth Beard, Virginia Benefield, Megan Smith and Katherine Benefield Hodges (Jordan); grandson, Jessie Smith; great-grandsons: Bentley Hodges, Oakley Hodges and Edmond Beard; great-granddaughter, Skylee Hodges; brothers, Lincoln Benefield (Ann) and Leland Benefield (Becky); sisters, Lana Gray (Mickey) and Lisa Curtis (Nolan).
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Friday, May 17, 2019. Interment will follow at Brace Cemetery in Lawrence County, TN.
