Jayton-John Henry Mayer, 86, passed away May 13, 2019, in Longview.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, in the Jayton Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel.

John was the son of the late Loranze and Minnie (Schindler) Mayer.

He graduated from Jayton High in 1949.

John served in the United State Army from 1953-1955.

He married Helen Chandler November 19, 1955, in Hamlin.

John was an avid reader, loved to dance and very musically talented.

He was a member of the Methodist Church in Jayton and The Son of Herman Lodge in Aspermont.

John is preceded in death by his parents, wife and one daughter, Paula Jean Graham.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, W.L. and Pat Mayer of Longview; eight grandchildren, Nicholas Graham (Krystal), Jessica Faulkner (Brant), Laci Hernandez (Inez), Jennifer Hansen, Kristina Mayer, Derek Pelzl, Devin Pelzl, and Dustin Pelzl; and eleven great-grandchildren, Alexis Graham, Andrew Graham, Lili Faulkner, Garrett Faulkner, Lucy Faulkner, Jesse Hansen, Dalton Pelzl, Austin Pelzl, Amy Pelzl, valentin Pelzl, and Natalie Pelzl.
