Pastor of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Long Beach, California, where he served for 11 years, from 2002 until retiring from active ministry in 2013. Ordained to the priesthood in 1959, Rev. Monsignor Sean B. Flanagan served the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for 60 years. He was an associate pastor at Visitation parish in Westchester from 1969 to 1973, while he earned a Masters degree at Loyola Marymount University. He is remembered as an active proponent of social justice and racial equality, working especially on behalf of the United Farm Workers union in the Central Valley of California. During his time at St. Catherine's parish, he oversaw the needed repairs caused by the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. While at St. Bartholomew's parish, he was also a chaplain with the Long Beach Fire Department.
