Domestic Violence Victim:

Shane Woods Jr., age 9, of White Earth, MN, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 18, 2019, at his home.

Shane Alexander Woods Jr. was born on April 19, 2009, to Shane Woods and Emma LaRoque in Bemidji, MN. He grew up in White Earth and was currently a 4th grade student in Ogema, MN. Shane was athletic and enjoyed playing basketball and little league baseball. He had an infectious smile no matter what he was busy doing. Shane loved hanging out with his little brother playing legos, transformers and with his Marvel characters. He could often be found spending time playing games on various electronics, especially Fortnite. He was an avid Mahnomen-Waubun Thunderbirds fan that liked attending sporting events to cheer them on. Shane also loved to travel and spending time at grandma and grandpa's house and with his special cousins, Adrian and Scotty.

Shane is survived by his father, Shane (Tessa) Woods; his grandparents, Dorothy (Wilfred) Cyr and Michael and Jean LaRoque; uncles: Charles (Nicole) Woods, Zech Cyr, and Jim (Emily) Barto; aunts, Mareena (Aaron Spaulding) LaRoque and Mikaela (Bruce Mortenson Jr.) LaRoque; as well as numerous cousins, classmates, friends, and extended family.

A Funeral Service, together with his mother, Emma, and brother, Frederick, will be held on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 11:00 am at the White Earth Community Center in White Earth, MN. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon on Sunday, March 24, 2019, at the White Earth Community Center and continue until the funeral service. A Prayer Service will begin at 6:00 pm on Sunday evening.

According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the two children died of "homicidal violence" while LaRoque "died of a self-inflicting gunshot wound. " Police said 28-year-old Emma LaRoque and her two children were discovered dead Monday afternoon at their home in Ogema, which is about 230 miles northwest of Green Bay.
As of April 30, autopsy results reveal that Emma Laroque, 28, shot and killed 4-year-old Frederick York and 9-year old Shane Woods was strangled and suffered numerous sharp force injuries.
