Mrs. Grace Butler Smith, 85, a former Fredericksburg resident died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. Holmes Whitaker of Jacksonville, Fla.
She was the widow of W. Mayo Smith and the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. George W. Butler, Presbyterian missionaries to Brazil where she made her home for the first 18 years of her life. She resided in Fredericksburg from the time she left Brazil until 1967 when her husband died.
Besides her daughter, she is survived by a son, Dr. Mayo Smith Jr. of Allentown, Pa.; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Confederate Cemetery in Fredericksburg.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church.
The service will be officiated by the Rev. Thomas G. Faulkner Jr.
