David Leland "DL" "PawPaw" Broussard Jr., a retired operator with Ormet and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2007, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 87, a native of Prairieville and a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.

Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday May 9, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m., conducted by the Knights of Columbus. Visiting at St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Sam Maranto, celebrant. Interment in Prairieville Cemetery.

Survived by his wife of 62 years, Mabel Margaret Burns Broussard; two daughters, Jeanette "Jane" Guillot and husband Arthur, and Patricia "Pat" Stewart and husband Rand; son, Richard Paul Broussard and wife Terri; three sisters, Ganell Knippers, Ruby Chaney and Magdaline Cowart; three brothers, Oakley, Louis and Pearlie Broussard; nine grandchildren, Ricky, Reneé, Christy, Heather, Bradley, Michelle, Beth, Jenny and Randall; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his father, David Leland Broussard Sr.; mother, Ella White Broussard; son, Sgt. Warren Joey Joseph Broussard; and two brothers, Rufus and Carl Broussard.

He was a longtime member of St. Gerard Majella Church and Knights of Columbus Council 3331. He was an avid fisherman.
