James Elbert Adams CHURCH HILL- James Elbert Adams, passed away on Sunday (December 1, 2013) at his residence. Mr. Adams was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was a member of Elm Springs United Methodist Church. He was retired from AFG and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Adams, parents, James and Delmar Kate Alley Adams, and sister, Joyce Adams. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Hagood and her husband, Jim, several nieces and nephews, caregivers, Lisa Ferguson, Terry and Sharon Hagood. Calling hours are from 6 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill and anytime at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Cutshaw officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Elm Springs Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 3/265 Color Guard. Pallbearers will be Scott Ferguson, Terry Hagood, Mike Hagood, and David Jones. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amedysis hospice for all of their wonderful care.
