Jabus “Jay” Talton Davis (Born, February 02, 1951) passed into eternal rest on May 11, 2019. Jay was truly a man of the world; he had traveled to every continent with the exception of Antarctica. Jay graduated from Dickinson High School, Class of 1969, and received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1973. Jay spent his working life in the oilfield, where he forged many lifelong friendships and where he found his calling as an Engineer. He memorialized his efforts by being named in three patents. Humble as he was, he spent 36 years at Schlumberger, and finished his career as Chief Operating Officer at Supreme Oilfield Services. The love he had for his work was only overshadowed by the love he had for his family.

He was predeceased in life by his parents, Floella Haggard and William Duffie Davis. He is survived by son, Shawn Davis, daughter-in-law, Kelly Davis; son Justin S. Davis, Esq., daughter-in-law, Dr. Kelli Anne Davis, Ph.D.; daughter, Johanna Davis; grand-daughters, Camille Davis, Madelyn Davis, and Samantha Davis; sister, Kay Lewis, brother-in-law, Gary Lewis; niece, Courtney Williams and her husband Ryan Williams; nephew, Chase Lewis; and countless cousins and close friends, whom are far too many to name individually. Jay was larger than life, and he lived every minute of his own life resolutely. His memory will carry on in the lives of those whom he had touched and his legacy lives in the memories of those that loved him. Weep not for me, my friends, for I am home.

The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway, in Katy, where the funeral service will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. A reception will follow Wednesday services.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Proffitt Cemetery in Newcastle, Texas.
