Michael Christensen

Michael Jeffery Christensen, son of Gerald and Rita (Ditzler) Christensen, was born on February 28, 1962 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He attended school at Tri-Center Schools in Pottawattamie County, Iowa through the tenth grade. When his family moved to Portsmouth, Iowa, Michael began his career in the construction business.
On July 23, 1985, Michael was united in marriage to June Baxter in Logan, Iowa. When he wasn't working, Michael loved fishing and listening to music. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He also loved just sitting down with family and friends and visiting. In April of 2000, Michael had a serious cardiac arrest episode and had to retire.
Michael spent the last several years in various rehabilitation and nursing homes before making his home at the Elm Crest Retirement Community in Harlan, Iowa in February of 2012. It is here that he died on May 12, 2019 having attained the age of fifty-seven years, two months and fourteen days. He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of over thirty-three years, June Christensen of Harlan; his daughters: Melissa and her husband Francis Raymond of Harlan; Holly Christensen Brockman of Bellevue, Nebraska and Christina Christensen of Avoca, Iowa; his grandchildren: Ethan, Eden, Evelyn, Keegan, Kolton and Mayce; his brother Scott Christensen of Denison, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.

Visitation at the funeral home is from 5-until 8-p.m. Wednesday, May 15th.
