Brenda was born in Milwaukee, June 8, 1938, to Dorothy (Hunter) and Edward Kaiser.
While visiting her stepmother in Kansas City over a summer break, she met Rodney Henderson and they married in December of 1957, very soon after meeting. They moved to Des Moines, where she lived all her adult life. They were married 56 years when Rodney died in 2013. Brenda had various jobs in retail and clerical positions and eventually spent many years working for the City of Des Moines, retiring from there.
Brenda enjoyed lunches out with friends, gambling and spending time with her grandsons, following all their sports and activities. Her favorites were soccer, baseball, and karate. She especially enjoyed weekend road trips with her daughter to various destinations like Pella, the Amana Colonies, Perry and Door County, WI.
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Gayle (Mike) Murray, her four treasured grandsons: Collan, Caleb (Steamboat Springs, CO) Cobey and Carson, of Des Moines, her three siblings in Texas: Edie Walker, Judy (Earl) Grylls and Dennis (Janis) Schmitt and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and treasured friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Brenda, like her husband before her, benefitted tremendously from the loving, compassionate service of Unity Point In-Home Hospice and Taylor House. Memorial Contributions may be offered to Taylor Hospice House.
Funeral Services will begin with a Visitation is Monday, May 13, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Grandview, Iles Funeral Home, 3211 Hubbell Ave. The funeral will be there as well on May 14, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial at Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome guests at the home of Mike and Gayle following the internment.
