Antonio was a barber by trade, and served in the 5th Field Artillery Regiment in WW1 beginning in 1917 and was honorably discharged in April of 1919. Antonio was hit with Mustard Gas in his face, luckily while wearing a gas mask. Subsequently, he was scarred on his jawbone, and couldn't grow facial hair on one side of his face. Antonio married 3 times, and I am a great grandson of his, descended from his second marriage to Mary (Rosati) Avena.

Family lore says Antonio was born in Castroreale, Sicily, though I have not proven this to be true.
