Karen Jeannean Mayes of Poetry, Texas, born October 2nd 1949 in Dallas, Texas, passed from this earth on Wednesday May 8th, 2019. She was a very young 69 years old.

Karen was a thoughtful, caring person, with a huge heart and always found pleasure in helping others in any way she could, big or small. She brought positivity and joy to all in her life with her lightheartedness, sense of humor, and highly infectious laugh. Karen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, traveling, live theater, The Texas Longhorns, and wine tasting. After a 32-year career with Hunt Oil Company as a payroll tax specialist, she retired in 2013.

She is preceded in death by her father, Delbert Monroe Grubbs, mother, Iva Del Grubbs, sister, Sharron Grubbs Spencer and brother, Charles Monroe Grubbs.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Lawrence Mayes, children, Robert Lawrence Mayes II and spouse, Carissa Lyne Mayes, and their children Kera Lyne Mayes, Alissa Marie Mayes, and Robert Landon Mayes; Janna Mayes Crumb and Lisa McGary, and children Mason Lee Crumb, and Dylan Nicholas Crumb; Jennifer Michelle Mayes; Justin Charles Mayes and spouse Ronald Anthony Philleaux.

The Liturgy of the Word will be held on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
