Anna McMullen was born at Lyons, Clinton Co, IA, March 5, 1875 and died at the Ida Mallett home in Presho, SD on March 1, 1942 at the age of 85 years and 11 months. She was taken to Presho, SD last Sept and remained there until she passed away. She was the second eldest of the family of nine children, three boys and six girls. At an early age she located with her family in Western Iowa where they lived for a period of about fifteen years. In 1903 she moved to Charles Mix Co, SD, to keep house for her brother, Edward McMullen. In 190x, she with her brother came to Lyman Co taking a homestead in Edna township. She drove a team of horses from Charles Mix to Lyman to Lyman Co and crossed the Missouri River at Chamberlain before the bridge was built. She lived on her homestead until 1934 when she moved to the town of Kennebec, SD. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Rose Kineen of Kennebec, SD and Mrs. George Mann of Portland, Oregon and one brother Edward McMullen of Kennebec, SD. Funeral services held at St Michael's Catholic Church in Kennebec, SD March 19 with Rev. Wm. Quill officiating. Burial was made in the Kennebec, SD Catholic.
