Anna Eltiste, age 92 of Lexington, formerly of Sumner, died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.

Services will be Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Sumner with Pastor Jack Heck officiating. Burial will be at the Sumner Cemetery.

Visitation was Tuesday, July 15, at the Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church.

Survivors include one daughter, Patsy (Alfred) Rader of Sumner; three sisters, Lilian Grant of Valpariso, Bessie Garrett of Shelton, and Frances (Kenneth) Mays of Overland Park, Kan.; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Cool of Shickley; sister-in-law, Alyce Klauz of Lexington; grandchildren, Steve (Colleen) Rader of Lexington, Keith (Ann) Rader of Seward, Michael (Holly) Cool of Kearney, Beth (Doug) Buresh of Kansas City, Mo.; five step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Eric and Caleb Rader, Michael and Faith Rader, Macey and Lia Cool, Mitchel Buresh; great-great-grandchildren, Dakota and Gabbrielle Rader, Tim Sikes, Madison Westbrook, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; one son, LaVerne; three sisters, Helen Barta, Mary Kinchloe and Julia Fiedler, two brothers, James and Joseph; step-sons Gordon, Leonard, Vernon and Dale Eltiste; and special friend, Martin Ross.

Anna was born May 17, 1916 at Spring Ranch in Clay County to Joseph and Bessie (Barta) Klauz. In 1937 she married Ray Cool. He died of a heart attack before their son LaVerne Ray was born.

She later married Charles Carpenter. He was killed in a mining accident in Colorado. To this union a daughter, Patsy Ann was born.

Anna married Paul Eltiste on Aug. 25, 1949 in Sumner. They raised turkeys on a farm between Sumner and Overton for many years before moving into Sumner where she worked in the Rancho Café. She worked for her sister Bessie in a café in Holdrege. She owned and operated the "Stop In Café" for 25 years, before retiring because of her husbands failing health. After Paul died she went to work in the Eddyville café.

Memorials are planned to the Grace Lutheran Church. Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary of Kearney is in charge of arrangements.
