January 22, 1932 - October 23, 2018 Joan Day Griffin, Westside real estate broker and longtime Brentwood resident, passed away quietly at her home with loved ones by her side, on Tuesday, October, 23. Born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1932, Joan moved to California with her parents, Isaac Booth & Daisy Day Ramsay, in 1944. The family was later joined by her sister, Ora Engquist, and brother, John Ramsay, who was serving in the US Navy at the time. Joan attended business college after high school. After a divorce, Joan got her real estate license and moved to Beverly Hills with her young daughter, Debora. In the early 1970s, Joan co-founded Gilleran Griffin Company, an early pioneer specializing in condominium sales. While retiring from the business in the late 1980s, Joan stayed true to her business-minded spirit, later becoming a mortgage banker for Chase Banks. Joan also held her brokers license until she was 81 years old. Joan was an active member of the volunteer service organization, the DAR, serving as Regent to the Beverly Hills Chapter and was a member of the Assistance League, Santa Monica. Joan is survived by her loving family: daughter Debora D. Griffin Lalezari, son-in-law Victor Lalezari, granddaughters Erinn D. Lalezari Watt (Mrs. Justin Watt) and Caitlin D. Lalezari, great-granddaughters Avery D. Watt and Harper D. Watt, and her nephew, William Covey and family. Joan will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services will be at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, in the Old North Church.
