Mr. Monroe Smith, 91, of 106 Pleasant View Drive, Union, widower of Mrs. Dottie Jenkins Smith, died Sunday May 12 2019 at his home after 5 years of declining health. Mr. Smith was born June 24th 1927 a son of the late Richard C. and Lillie Griffin Smith. Mr. Smith was a US Veteran having served in the Army Navy Airforce. He was retired after 50 yrs from Sloan Construction. He is survived by daughters, Barbara S Medford (Billy), Pat S Gibson (Thomas) Granddaughters, Tracy G Cornwell, Leslie G Wetmore, Daniel M Bennett, grandson, Dustin Medford. Great Grands Kensley Hill, Hannah Hill, Mason Bennett and Loralie Bennett. He was predeceased by sons, Charles Hudson and Ricky Smith and a granddaughter, Tara Smith, brother Arthur Smith, sisters Beatrice Williams, Bernice Foster, and Claudis Horne.He was a member of The Greater Union Church Graveside memorial services will be held Thursday May 16th, 2019 at 3pm at Rosemont Cemetery. The family is receiving friends at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Pat Gibson, 114 Pleasant View Drive, Union.
