Melissa A. (Vanderheyden) Jones, age 46, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, after suffering a massive stroke.
Born in Green Bay, WI on February 2, 1973, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. (Juliet) Vanderheyden and the late Linda A. Vanderheyden. She graduated from Morris High School in 1991.
Melissa was a very caring and compassionate person who treated her friends like family. Her friends describe her as strong, fearless, kind, amazing, sweet, and overall great person. Melissa aka “CraftyMamaJones” loved to knit, crochet, sew/quilt, and create decorative accents. She was the creator of “Crafty Creations & Gifts by MJ” where she could showcase her talent. She was a very supportive mother and wife and cherished her family.
Melissa is survived by her husband Brian; son, Aaron Wendel; daughters, Madeline and Annaliese Wendel; brother, Matthew (Elizabeth) Vanderheyden; brother, Phillip Vanderheyden; sister-in-law, Melanie (Vic) Elias; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Erin) Jones; mother-in-law, Pat Jones and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceding her in death was her father-in-law, Todd Jones.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at the UC Davis-Callahan Funeral Home, 301 W. Washington St. Morris, IL 60450. A Celebration of Melissa’s Life will follow at 4 p.m., officiated by Pastor Philip Schupmann of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Aurora. Aqua Cremation rites will be accorded.
Preferred memorials may be made in Melissa’s name to Wounded Warrior Project.
