June 23, 1938 – May 5, 2019
An angel got her wings on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at 9:22 pm. She was our mom, our granny Pat, and our Aunt Patty. She loved her family and never met a stranger. She had a servant’s heart. She was loved by her family and everyone who met her. She always had a smile, a hug, and love in her heart.
She was born on June 23, 1938, in French Lick, Indiana to Everett and Myrtle (Royer) Wortinger. She married Jack McPherson, and he preceded her in death on April 13, 2009. She retired as a sales clerk at the S&J Convenience Store in Sweetser, Indiana, and was a member of the Oakdale Baptist Church.
She loved to be in the kitchen cooking or baking for anyone and everyone. Mac and cheese, peanut butter fudge, and banana pudding were some of her favorites to make.
We were blessed to have her for 80 years. She will be missed, but we will see her again one day.
She is survived by her children: Mike (Paula) Appleton of Urbana, IN, Dave (Sandy) Appleton of Macy, IN, and Judy (Doug) Dicken of Peru, IN; as well as five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother Dale Wortinger of Converse, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters Margie and Claribel, and one grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 4 pm – 7 pm on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Monday, May 13, 2019, at the funeral home, with Eric Bingaman officiating. Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.
