Dorothy Carolyn Hardage Liddell, 90, a resident of Learned, Mississippi, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2022.

Born on September 27, 1931, she was a devoted servant of Jesus Christ and a longtime member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church.

She was married to Joseph John "Jack" Liddell, III for 56 years.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Joe (Diane) of Oxford, MS; daughter, Gayle Humphreys (Frank) of Learned, MS; brother, Pat Hardage (Nancy) of Carthage, MS; sister-in-law, Mary Smith of Houston, MS; and three grandchildren, Shelby Claire Liddell, Avery Lynn Liddell and Daniel Liddell Humphreys.

Services will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 11:00 am at Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Learned, MS. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 5 to 7 pm at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Raymond, MS. Memorials can be made to French Camp Academy or Old Lebanon Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund.

Miss Hardage Is Fiancee Of John Joseph Liddell Jr.

MADDEN, May 11 - Mr. and Mrs. Algie Hardage of Madden announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Carolyn, to John Joseph (Jack) Liddell Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Liddell of Learned.

The bride - elect is a graduate of Madden High school and Belhaven college. For two years she was a teacher in the Susie P. Trigg Elementary School in Greenville. At present she is a member of the Marion Park Elementary school faculty in Meridian.

Mr. Liddell is a graduate of the Hinds County Agricultural High school and Hinds Junior college. He also attended the University of Texas and Mississippi State college. Presently he is engaged in cattle farming in Learned.

The wedding will be solemnized in the Carolina Presbyterian church of Madden at 5:30 p. m. on Sunday, June 9, with Dr. T. Russell Nunan officiating.

Mrs. Wilson K. Magee of Hattiesburg, sister of the bribe-elect, will serve as matron of honor. Brides maids will be Mrs. William D. Smith III of Houston, sister of the bridegroom - elect; Mrs. Frank Horton, Clinton; Miss Barbara Evans, Meridian; and Miss Willana Thomas, Madden.

Flower girls will be Debbie Smith, niece of the bridegroom elect and Janice Thomas, cousin of the bride-elect and ringbearer will be Wilson K. Magee, Jr., nephew of the bride-elect.

Richard Prassel, Raymond, will serve Mr. Liddell as best man. Ushers will include the following Harvey Mashburn Jr., Raymond; Edward Broadus, Jackson; William D. Smith III, brother-in-law of the bridegroom-elect, Houston; and Pat Hardage; Mississippi Southern College and Madeen, brother of Miss Hardage.

Diane Elaine Harlan of Meridian, daughter of Dr. Grady E. Harlan of Oxford and Kathleen W. Harlan of Gulfport, became the bride of Joseph John Liddell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Liddell of Learned, July 19, 1986, at Oxford-University United Methodist Church.

Anita Drury served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Leslie Harlan, Melanie Brandt, Gayle Liddell, Jackie Simm and Amanda Harlan.

Liddell served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Charles Cannada, Billy Young, Jim Williams and Rodger Ratliff.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph John Liddell of Learned announce the engagement of their daughter, Gayle Rosamond Liddell, to Frank Irwin Humphreys Jr., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank I. Humphreys Sr. of Yazoo City.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Florabel Hardage and the late Algie Hardage of Madden and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph John Liddell Sr. of Learned.

She is a graduate of Rebul Academy and attended Hinds Community College. Miss Liddell is presently employed by the CommniGroup Inc.

The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Humphreys, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Harvey Norman Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Harvey Norman, all of Yazoo City.

He is graduate of Yazoo City High School and is presently enrolled in the Hinds Community College Nursing and Allied Health program.

The couple will be wed May 16 at 3 p.m. at the Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Learned.
