David Gary Hammond , 73 , of Lexington , South Carolina passed away April 17, 2019 at Lexington Medical Center West Columbia , South Carolina . He was born on August 19, 1945 in Carrolton , Georgia to the late Leaford and Evelyn (Watson) Hammond .​

Corporal David G. Hammond was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran. He served as a supply administrator in the 5th Service Battalion, 5th Marine Division during the Vietnam War. He served with honor and distinction. After serving his country, he returned home to his loving wife and family. David worked in retail management until his retirement. During his career, he served as President of the South Carolina Association of College Stores, earning his Associates in Business in 2006, and also served as Chair of the Midlands Technical College Staff Council.​

When he was not working, David was an avid outdoors-man. He enjoyed fishing, shooting, hiking and traveling. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs. David's most memorable adventure was a three month RV trip to Alaska, including traversing the Top of the World Highway​

David will be joining his daughter, Michelle, sisters: Marilyn and Patty and a brother Dennis.​
