Funeral services for Jan R. Stone, 62, of West were held Friday, October 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Durant. Officiating ministers were, Rev. Jessie Scott, Jr. and Dr. Thomas Elkins. Burial was in North Union Cemetery near West.
Mr. Stone died of respiratory arrest on Tuesday, October 20, 1998 at his home.
A native of Attala County, he was a retired rural mail carrier with the Post Office. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church.
A brother, Billy Richard Stone preceded him in death.
Survivors include; wife, Era Stone of West; daughters, Yvonne (Bibby) Gonzales of Madison, Bobbie Sue Stone of Ridgeland and Janice McLellan of West; sisters, Jean Eastwood and Marcia Melton, both of West; and two grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Bruce Milam, Jimmy Bruce, Timmy Weeks, Stephen Adams, Troy Hodges and Johnny Edwards.
