She was born October 2, 1917 in Washington, DC to William and Allie Mae Dixon. Her family moved to New Jersey until she was three years old before returning to their hometown of Blackshear, GA. She was a graduate of Blackshear High School in 1934 and attended nursing school in Atlanta, Georgia. She married the late Col. Robert S. Caleb March 1, 1942. She traveled all over the world with her husband during his 20 years in the Army before retiring to Seminole, FL in 1972. She was a homemaker, a amateur championship golfer, a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, Military Officers Association of America and the Retired Civil Service Association.
She was preceeded in death by: her husband, Col. Robert S. Caleb; her father, William Dixon; her mother, Allie Mae Dixon; and her brother, Jack Dixon.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer McVeigh (Robert), Pinellas Park, FL; two sons, David D. Caleb (Giselle), Alexandria, VA, Robert Timothy Caleb (Bobbie), Seminole, FL; four grandchildren, Christopher McVeigh, Gaithersburg, MD; Colleen Caleb, Silver Spring, MD; Sean McVeigh (Jennifer), Germantown, MD and Stacey Green (Darwin), Lithonia and many other family and friends.
Funeral services were held April 5, 2007 in Florida.
