Wife of Samuel David Hyler, married May 29, 1879 in Adams County, Illinois

BURIED IN CLAYTON
Mrs. S. D. Hyler Had Been An Invalid for Twenty Months.
Clayton, Dec.6. - The funeral services of Mrs. S. D. Hyler were held in the Christian church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Reevis of Missouri, a former pastor, was in charge. Many beautiful flowers testified to the esteem held for this Clayton citizen who has just passed over to her reward. She died Sunday after an illness of 20 months, aged 60 years, 1 month and 17 days.
For nearly two years Mrs. Hyler had been an invalid, suffering from chronic leukenria, but such was her ambitious nature that she was up and about her house until near the end, and she attended Sunday school a week ago for the last time.
For 44 years Mrs. Hyler had been an active member of the Clayton Christian church- loving all its works and labors.
Her maiden name was Eliza Catherine Stout and she was the oldest daughter of William and Catherine Stout. She was born near Golden, October 16, 1856, moved to Clayton, and lived near and in Clayton the remainder of her life. She was married to S. D. Hyler May 29, 1879. She joined the Christian church at this place when she was 16 years old.
She had been a member of the Rebecca lodge for twenty-nine years and had always taken an active part in the Ladies' Aid and all the church work.
