Charlton, John Ewing “Jack”, age 82, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2018. He was born on January 8, 1936, in Radford, Virginia. He was predeceased by his parents, Nellie and Walter Charlton; and brother, Bob Charlton. Jack was known for his wood-working skills and for his caring and friendly nature to everyone he met. He was a graduate of Smithdeal-Massey Business College. He faithfully devoted his time working at Alcatraz Paint Company and AARP Pharmacy as office manager. He also proudly served his country in the Korean War driving a “Deuce and half” food truck, where he earned the title of “snack Jack.” He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine Charlton; their daughter, Cynthia Matejka, her husband, John; and the light of his world, his grandson, Matthew. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Colin and Betty Mallory; their sons, Steven (Kelly), Anthony; and his great-niece and nephew, Megan and Travis. Special thanks to the staff at Discovery Village of the West End, especially Valencia Rogers and Elizabeth Bowers. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to the Goochland Middle School faculty and families for their support. The family is eternally grateful to his kind neighbors, James and Valerie Ayers, for their love and support. His remains rested at Bennett Funeral Home, Glen Allen, where family received friends and fun stories on November 5, 2018. Graveside services were held at Greenwood Memorial Gardens on November 6, 2018.
