Enoch Kitchin was born about 1813 in Pennsylvania, son of Enoch and Elizabeth Thomas KItchin. His family moved to Delaware around 1820. His father died and his remaining family, brother Alfred, and sisters Elizabeth and Julianna (There were other sisters but their names are unknown) moved to Darke County, Ohio.

He married Elizabeth Banfield 19 July 1835 in Darke County Ohio. His first son, Anderson Kitchin was born there. He moved to Madison County Indiana, where he and Elizabeth had their second son, Wesley Kitchin. Elizabeth died there about 1840. He married Elizabeth Garrison, widow of Abraham Blizzard. She had at least two children from her previous marriage, Melton and Rebecca E Blizzard. There was a Sylvester Blizzard living with them in 1850 and 1860, but his origin is unknown and no record has been found for him after 1860.

Enoch and his second wife had two children, Amos and Eliza KItchin, both born In Madison County, Indiana. Before 1860, they moved back to Darke County, Ohio, close to brother Alfred

All three sons fought in the Civil War. Anderson died in the war and Amos was discharged because of injury.

Anderson had some land in Christian County, Illinois, and Enoch bought some land from his wife, and in 1869 Enoch, his sons Wesley and Amos, and his brother, Alfred Kitchin, and most of Alfred's family, moved to Christian County, Illinois.

Christian County Probate records state that Enoch died 27 Sep 1870. Alfred was surety for Wesley and Amos. He was most likely buried in the Grove City Methodist Church Cemetery, where his brother Alfred, his wife Hannah, their daughter, Elizabeth Kitchin Heinlein, and his own son, Amos, was buried. There is no headstone. In earlier cemetery readings, there were listed a number of Kitchin, broken stones. His stone was probably one of the broken ones.
