Linda was born on August 25, 1944 in Texarkana, Texas to the late Arthur and Odessa Bartee Gibson. She was the eighth of nine children from this marriage.
Linda grew up in Texarkana, Texas and was a graduate of Dunbar High School. She later attended Texas Southern University and East Texas School of Nursing where she became a registered nurse for over thirty-five years. Her nursing career included work at Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, Texas for six years, McArthur High School in Houston, Texas for ten years, and CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas, for six years. She was also a faithful member of the First Frisco United Methodist Church family.
