Kate was the daughter of Duncan and Celia Sewell McInish. She married William Allen Vestal (b.1823 NC) on September 19, 1842 in Campbell County, Georgia (now Fulton County). William Allen Vestal was a medical doctor, trained at Graefenberg Medical Institute in Dadeville, Alabama. He served as a civilian doctor for the Confederacy in the Civil War. He died in Alabama sometime around 1870, exact date and place of burial unknown. Kate came to Union County about 1888 with most of her surviving children. She was also referred to by many people as a doctor, and is said to have possessed a "certificate" of some kind to that effect. At the very least, she was an experienced midwife. Her name is on the midwife registry in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, where she delivered many, many babies, including one, it is said, the day before they left that place heading for Arkansas. She was a very small woman, said to have weighed only 96 pounds. She has been described by Ila Merle Vestal Knox in her book "A History of Strong, Arkansas", as "the Matriarch of the Vestal family." (from M Burson)

Catharine was the last one living out of all her siblings.

Another Child:
Haseltine Vestal (born abt. 1856 in AL, and died in AL).
