He was a 1964 graduate of Watson Chapel High School and attended the University of Arkansas–Monticello. He joined the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1970. He spent 30 years in the poultry processing business, running processing plants, selling to international customers and traveling extensively in Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. After retiring he returned to Pine Bluff to care for his parents. He worked as an independent consultant to poultry processing companies and later in the insurance business. In 2009 he founded Pawn Stars of Malvern and Sheridan which he operated until his death.
He is also survived by many friends and extended family who knew him as a generous man always ready to help them. He loved fishing and sports and enjoyed teaching his sons and grandson these pastimes.
