Mr. Kraft was a longtime resident of Winn Parish. He retired in 1974 as a railroad conductor, having been promoted from locomotive mechanic and brakeman during his 30-year career with Tremont & Gulf Railroad and its successor, Illinois Central Railroad. He was a member of National Transportation Union (formerly International Brotherhood of Trainmen) and First Presbyterian Church in Winnfield. He was a former member of Winnfield Masonic Lodge and a hunter, outdoorsman and gardener.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Allen Kraft in 1994; his parents, Louis and Augusta Kraft; and eight older siblings.
He was survived by three children, Bobbye Kraft Robinson of Provo, UT, Betty Kraft Mixon of Baton Rouge, and Jamie Bennett Kraft of Houston, TX; two sisters-in-law, Annie McMillen of Little Rock, AR and Lois Smith of Lake Charles; two brothers-in-law, Jehu Lazelle Allen of Joyce and Marvin Allen of Katy, TX; 4 grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters, numerous nieces and nephews.
