Walter J. Bartlett passed away May 9, 2019 in Porter, Texas. He was born January 12, 1920. The fourth son of six sons born to Jim and Ruby Bartlett of Rockdale, Texas.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Eula, brothers Alva Lee, Harry, and Joe Bartlett, granddaughter Tiffany Peeples, and grandson Evan Miller.

He is survived by his wife Paulette of sixteen years and daughters Jeanette (Joe) Melton, Doris (Tommy) Peeples, Mary Rhoden, and son Gene (Kim) Stanley; grandsons David (Shona) Peeples, Steven (Lori) Miller and Richard Rhoden; granddaughters Lisa (Michael) Brumfield, Kimberly (Robbie) Wright, Randi (Johnny) Armstrong, Cammie Winover, Heather (Jonathon) Smoot, Herbert (Meghann) Melton, Lisa Miller-McKim and thirteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

A WWII veteran, Walter lived in the Porter-New Caney area for 56 years. He was a charter member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Porter, Texas. An Endowed and Life member of Sam B. Crawford Masonic Lodge No. 1418 in New Caney, Texas, Walter was a Charter member and a Past Master. He was a 63-year member. Walter was a Charter member as well as an Endowed and Life member of New Caney Chapter No. 1093, Order of the Eastern Star where he was a Past Patron.

A funeral service in memory of Walter will be held on Monday, May 13 at 2:30 pm, at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Fwy., Houston, Texas 77039 with Rev. Clay Whitaker officiating.

Memorial donations in memory of Walter may be made to the American Heart Association.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Millennium Hospice nurses and staff for their compassionate care for Walter.
