Funeral services will be 1:30 PM, Friday, July 16, at Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney. Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Thursday at O'Brien Straatmann Funeral Home in Kearney and 1 hour prior to service time at the church.
Lloyd O. Hagan, 83, of Kearney, died Monday, July 12, 2010, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM, Friday, July 16, at Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney. The Rev. Gary Main and Rev. Dr. Sam Rathod will officiate. Interment with military rites will be in the Sumner Cemetery conducted by the Nebraska National Guard Honors Team in conjunction with the American Legion Post of Sumner. Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Thursday at O'Brien Straatmann Funeral Home in Kearney and 1 hour prior to service time at the church. Memorials may be made to the church. Lloyd was born to Miner and Albia (Sullivan) Hagan on July 24, 1926, on a farm west of Eddyville. He attended rural schools and graduated from Eddyville High School in 1942. He was drafted into the Army in 1945. After basic training at Camp Fannin in Tyler TX, he deployed to Japan, where he served with the 43rd Engineer Construction Battalion. After his discharge he returned to farm & ranch in the Eddyville and Oconto area for over 40 years. He retired to Kearney due to ill health in 1992. Lloyd was married to Betty Marshall in Eddyville on May 23, 1948. Four children were born to this union. He loved his family, his land and his cattle. He enjoyed reading and traveling in his spare time. He was a member of the Eddyville United Methodist Church for over 50 years before joining Faith United Methodist Church while living in Kearney. He was also a member of the Eddyville Lions Club, serving as a board member, the Eddyville American Legion Post, a past member of the Sumner Eddyville Miller School board, Lexington Co-op Oil Company Board, Dawson County Extension Board and various church organizations. Survivors include his wife, Betty; sons Ronald L. (wife Judy) of Carmel, IN and Lynn D. (wife Justy) of Firth; and daughters Janet S. Dyer (husband Bob) of Wayne and Ann L. Thober (husband Don) of Lincoln. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Patrick Hagan of San Francisco,CA, Andrew Hagan of London, England, Craig Dyer and wife Chicky of Heath, Ohio, Casey Dyer and wife Jennifer of St. Louis, MO, Clint Dyer and wife Laura of Omaha, Chris Dyer and wife Sarah of Lincoln, Jody Hanson and husband Craig of Silverdale,WA, Sarah Thober of Lincoln, Ben Thober and fiancé, Carrie of Omaha, Ryan Hagan of Lincoln, and J. D. Gragg and wife Sara of Lubbock, Texas. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren; Aidan and Doran Dyer, Ashley, Sydney and Jackson Dyer, Will Dyer, Ashlyn, Samuel and Emily Hansen, Thomas Dyer and Barrett Gragg. Other survivors include his brother Arlan (wife Shirley) of Oconto, and sister, Ella Marie Lawson of Lexington and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Toby Hagan and brother-in-law, Clifford Lawson.
