Margaret was born April 3, 1947 in Lyons, Kansas to John Curtin and Bessie Lee (Fisher) Cyphert.
She graduated from Geneseo High school in Geneseo, Kansas. After her graduation she attended St. Mary of the Plains College and Emporia State for three and a half years. Margaret worked for Sante Fe Railroad in Topeka, Fidelity Life Insurance Company in Kansas City and work for Oak Park High school as a teacher assistant and as a counseling office administrator for over 20 years.
Margaret was a member of Meadowbrook United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years, vacation bible school (VBS) Teacher and participated in bible study as well as church council.
Margaret helped with the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years and served as a den mother. She also worked and lead Cub Scouts Day Camp and Pow Wow for many years. She was a member of the North Star District Training Team, served as District Commissioner and won the Silver Beaver Award.
Margaret was preceded in death by husband Fredrick Canada; siblings Helen Wilson, Anna Lee Peverley, Robert Cyphert and Tom Cyphert.
Survivors include children Paul Harrison Showalter and Mary Frances (Showalter) Markstrom; siblings Rosemary Wilson, John Cyphert and Frances Day.
Graveside service 11:00am Tue. White Chapel Cemetery. Family will gather at the cemetery 30 minutes before the service. Services under the direction of White Chapel Funeral Home.
