Dovie E. Smith 85 of Okahumpka passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family May 7, 2019. Dovie was born July 25, 1933 in Evergreen, Alabama. The family moved to Florida in 1934. He was retired from the USAF and a retired Lieutenant with the Leesburg Police Department. He is preceded in death by Rocella, his wife of nearly 60 years. Dovie is survived by his son and family, Nathan and Barbara of Weirsdale. Son, Dale and Lisa of Ozark, Mo and daughter Cindy and Joe Smith of Leesburg. Grandchildren, Mackenzie Smith of Ozark, Mo, Robert Smith of Weirsdale and Amy and Christian Miller of Leesburg and 3 great grandchildren Aubrey, Charlotte and Kennedy, and many close friends. He was an avid fisherman and quick with a joke. He will be missed by many.
Services will be Saturday May 11 at 11 a.m. with a visitation an hour prior to the service at Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg FL.
