George was a graduate of Brown Summit High School, class of 1959, and was a graduate of Croft College in Greensboro. He retired from J.D. Wilkins Co. in Greensboro. George was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army and was of the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Tenner Mae Rodgers Gilmer.
He is survived by his wife, Mae Elizabeth Siddle Rodgers of the home; son, Eric Rodgers and wife Marie of Greensboro; grandsons, Quinton Taylor, Eric Rodgers, Jr.; daughter, Wendy Rodgers of Greensboro; brother, Evander Gilmer, Jr. of Chicago, IL and sisters-in-law, Gladys G. Rawls of Greensboro and Alyce Baldwin of High Point.
