Enlisted in the Confederate Army at Dardanelle, Arkansas on July 4, 1862. Killed in action at the Battle of Prairie Grove December 7, 1862. Reinterred at Fort Smith National Cemetery along with many others who were 'known only to God'. Information passed down from his family indicates he is now at rest here, which is why I took the liberty to choose a site to individually pay tribute to my distant relative.

Son of Simeon Kirkpatrick (born 1812 in Roane Co, Tennessee) and Penelope Morris Kirkpatrick (born 1818 in North Carolina).

Brother of Jane P., Mason C.C., Ann Arkansas, Canzada, Harriet Isabella, Julia Sarah and Virginia.

The Kirkpatrick family can be found through census and other research material in the Yell County area throughout the 1850's, 1860's and 1870's. Though they did flee to northern Texas with many other area resident's because of the food shortages and violence of the war, they returned afterward.
