Robert was born on 11/18/1932 in Henderson, TX to his parents, Clyde Christopher and Sudie Mae "Patrick" Burks. Robert was the third of 8 children. He married Laverne Brooks in Henderson, TX on 9/03/54. They had 2 children. He attended LeTourneau University and graduated in 1957 with a Bachelor’s in Machine Science. He served in the Air Force for 6 years. He was a resident of Dallas, TX for 52 years. He was employed by Rockwell/Collins as a mechanical engineer for 35 years.
Robert was a member of Waterview Baptist Church. He enjoyed grilling, doing for others, and directing music.
Robert will be remembered by their children: Stan and his wife Paula of Murphy, TX, Stephen and his wife Laurinda of Plano, TX. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Alexandra Warren of Plano, Nicole Robertson of Garland, Nicholas Burks of Murphy, Madelynne Burks of Murphy, TX, Shelby, Christopher, and Matthew Burks of Plano, 4 great grandchildren, 6 sisters, 1 brother, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Laverne of 56 years.
Funeral services for Robert were scheduled for Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Restland Memorial Chapel.
Robert was a member of Waterview Baptist Church. He enjoyed grilling, doing for others, and directing music.
