Mr. Billy Wayne Hubbard, age 83 of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday morning, May 7, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 27, 1935 in Coweta County, Georgia, the son of the late Marvin Hubbard and the late Kate Robison Hubbard. He was owner/operator of D & R Superette for over sixteen years and Boy Scout Leader, having received the Silver Beaver Award. Prior to his owning the superette, he was employed with Carroll Publishing Company, now known as the Times-Georgian, for over forty years. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, having served on the Board of Deacons until his health began to fail. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Donald Hubbard and Bobby Hubbard. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Mrs. Edna Pierce Hubbard; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Doug Rooks of Bowdon; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sandy Hubbard of Carrollton; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and L. C. Peacock of Dublin, Georgia; four grandchildren: Jason and Dawn Rooks, Mary Hubbard, Luke and Kim Hubbard, and Robin Hubbard; and one great grandchild, Claire Rooks. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 2:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Brady West officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
