He was the son of the late Paul and Emma Poole Cripps. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Greenbrier First Baptist Church. He worked as a machine operator at Remay Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vickie Cripps; step-father, Bud Rawls; and brother, Paul Cripps. He is survived by his son, David R (Loretta) Cripps; daughter, Emily (Chad) Warner; grandchildren, Bethany Cripps, Christina Cripps, Nathaniel Warner, Noah Warner; great-grandchildren, Rowan Franklin and Cohen Franklin; brother, Mark (Lisa) Rawls; sisters, Martha Rawls and Myra (Gary) Nunley.
