Clara Elizabeth Mitchell passed away April 30, 2019 in Decatur, Georgia. She was born in Augusta, Georgia on December 24, 1952. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Dorothy Mitchell and brother, Ralph S. Mitchell. She leaves behind many relatives and friends that she loved dearly.
Clara attended Atlanta Speech School & graduated in 1977 from Gallaudet University, located in Washington DC, a university for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. She then worked for National Library of Medicine. She missed Atlanta and decided to move back and began working for the CDC. After many years of dedication to her work, she retired. Clara enjoyed being outdoors and loved animals, especially her kitties. She was always up for watching an old classic movie.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 10:00am-11:30am at H.M. Patterson & Son – Oglethorpe Hill, 4550 Peachtree Rd NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319. A graveside service will follow at 12:00pm at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, GA.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Clara's memory to Atlanta Speech School’s Annual Fund program, any local Atlanta animal shelter or The American Diabetes Association.
