Robert Kenneth Crook Jr.
Robert Kenneth Crook Jr., 81, of Easton, died, Monday, May 6, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City. He was born July 27, 1937, in Leavenworth, the son of Robert Kenneth Sr. and Mary Ann (Derzinski) Crook.
On Nov. 12, 1960, Bob married Barbara Beymer. She preceded him in death in 2003. From this marriage survives four children, Howard (Nicole) Crook, Lloyd (Karen) Crook, Sharon (John) Wagner and Julie (Kenny) Eastburn all of Easton, Kan.
On Feb. 28, 2009, Bob married Virgilynne “Virgie” Vetter Goletz. She survives at the home. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Kristie, Jeremy, Jenna, Hillary, Jason, Jamie, Emily, Hank, Haley and Matt; six great-grandchildren; two step sons, Darrell and Isaac; and many nieces, nephews, friends and a large extended family.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dale Crook.
His number one priority in his life was his family and friends. His second was his love of “Crook Hill”, where he milked cows and farmed as a young man. He also raised horses with his dad and spent several years showing horses with his family in the Kansas State Horse Show Circuit. Later in life Bob focused on farming and raising cattle. He had a strong work ethic that he instilled in his kids, his favorite saying was “You’re burning daylight!”
Bob worked many jobs throughout his life. He owned and operated Standard Oil in Easton, he was a heavy equipment operator at J.L. Clark Plumbing and Heating, he worked maintenance at TWA and he also worked and retired from American Airlines.
He loved watching his grandkids and great grandkids in any and every activity they were involved in, rarely did he miss one. He enjoyed traveling by car, boat or air to any destination; his favorites were Hawaii and Las Vegas.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Lawrence Church in Easton, Kan., with Fr. William McEvoy as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Easton Youth Activites – Basball/Softball programs.
