Jennie Lenora Van Dyk was the daughter of Geurt Reindert and Wilhelmina (Vink) Van Dyk. She was born on September 28, 1921, at her parents’ home near Otley, Iowa. Jennie attended Bunker Hill Country Grade School and graduated from Pella High School in Pella, Iowa. On April 5, 1941, she was united in marriage with Delroy Wayne Geetings in Lancaster, Missouri and to this union were blessed with four children: Ronald Wayne, Donald Eugene, Larry Dean, and Lana Kaye. As a young mother, Jennie worked at the Pella Overall Factory, Rolscreen Company, and enjoyed waitressing at the Pella Coffee Shop and A&W restaurant. Those who knew her said she was one of the best waitresses in town and her potato salad was a menu favorite at the local A&W. In 1972, her husband, Wayne, founded a family trucking business called Geetings, Inc. Jennie, a devoted mother, was an integral figure in the business until she was 80 years old. On April 1, 1993, Wayne passed away unexpectedly shortly following his 74th birthday. Jennie treasured her miniature poodle, Nero, who was a dear companion to her at the time of her death on May 5, 2019, at the age of 97 years. She greatly loved her family and is survived by her four children and their families.

Jennie leaves her brother, Raymond Van Dyk and Dee, her sister, Shirley and her husband, Derrill Cook of Pella along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; two great-grandchildren: Angela Diane Hackert and Kaleb Compton; her parents, G.R. and Minnie Van Dyk; her brother, John Anthony Van Dyk, and her sister, Johanna A. and husband, Henry G. Roozeboom; her parents-in-law, Ernest and Gertie (Slykhuis) Geetings, Gerrit De Zwarte; and the following sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Irene (Geetings) and William Vander Beek, June (De Zwarte) and Lynn Moore, and Bob and Neva De Zwarte.
