Older brother of E. Champ Warrick. He was African American veteran of the Spanish-American War. He served with the 24th Colored Cavalry, an all-black unit that provided timely augmentation to Theodore Roosevelt and his Rough Riders during a crucial phase of the assault on San Juan Hill.
